In partnership with the University of British Columbia, Renewable Power Corporation developed the "hydro reconnaissance" software tool HydroRecon.

This unique piece of software analyzes geographic data to find ideal locations for new hydroelectric projects based on potential head height and runoff (available power,) available infrastructure (distance to roads and transmission lines,) and economic viability. HydroRecon pinpoints the optimal location to build a facility at a potential site.

HydroRecon produces detailed reports, data tables, and geographic mapping including 3D representations of terrain. The tool can be applied to locations worldwide.
